What does the sculpture look like?
Pegasus is caught in the middle of a powerful rise. His front legs lift from the ground, the wings spread wide, and the body has the heavy muscle structure you would expect from a war horse. The head turns slightly downward, which gives the horse a more active pose instead of making it look like a static display piece.
Bellerophon sits on his back with a long spear held forward. His body leans into the movement. You can almost read the direction of the flight just by following the spear, the horse’s neck, and the raised wings.
