The Horse Bust -- Getting the Head Right
Most of a horse's character lives in the head — the flare of a nostril, the depth set into an eye socket, the way the forelock falls. Miss these and you get a shape that looks like a horse. Get them right, and it looks alive.
Our sculptors spend more time here than on any other part of the sculpture. A few things we pay particular attention to:
The eye isn't just a round shape — the orbicularis oculi muscle around it has to be modeled correctly, or the horse ends up looking glassy instead of alert.
Mane strands are carved by hand into the wax, one section at a time, before casting. It's slow work, but it's the only way to get the texture right.
Nostril shape and the cartilage underneath are worked from real equestrian reference photos — not guessed, not simplified.
Facial Detail Precision
The eyes, nostrils, and mane get the most attention. Each feature is refined by hand at the wax stage — this is where a sculpture stops looking like a horse and starts looking like this horse.
Silica Sol Casting
We use silica sol investment casting instead of sand-casting — it holds finer detail. The shell is smooth enough that things like hair texture and skin folds transfer straight from wax to bronze, with barely any grinding needed after.
Custom Patina Finishes
Patina is applied by hand with heat and chemical oxidation, built up in layers rather than sprayed on all at once. Choose from our standard color range, or tell us the tone you're after and we'll match it.

Sizes range from life size pieces to large-scale gateway installations. Larger pieces are engineered with reinforced bases for outdoor mounting. Just tell us the dimensions and location — we'll take it from there.

Sized for tighter outdoor spots — flanking a gate, set into a garden wall, or standing at the corner of a courtyard. Close enough to see the detail, but doesn't need a lot of open ground around it.

Bases come in marble, bronze, or a bronze base shaped like an irregular rock — depending on the setting. We can also cast a plaque into the base with a name, date, or family crest, whatever you'd like included.
Flexible Size Scaling
Any piece in our catalog can be scaled to the size you need. For anything over 3m, a structural engineer is brought in — outdoor pieces that size need proper footing and wind-load calculations.
Engraving & Inscription
Add a name, date, or short inscription — estate name, breeder details, whatever's meaningful. Characters can be cast directly onto the bronze.
